About

Art at the Afters

Original one of one acrylic works, born in Los Angeles between midnight and morning.

Art at the Afters is the studio and world of Stevie Alger, an artist working in Los Angeles. The work is made in the room where the night happens, faces left fluid and unfinished, each canvas committed to a single colour world. Nothing is printed. Every piece is an original, signed, one of one.

What began as painting for friends after the night out has become a body of collected work held across cities and countries, with an audience that follows the work as it is made. The paintings carry the feeling of the room they were made in. That is the point of them.

Stevie Alger is an Australian artist based in Los Angeles. Her original works are collected across 17 cities and 5 countries, with galleries representing her in Milan, Paris, Osaka, New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. She earned a top three nomination for People's Art of the Year presented by Johnny Depp, has had a work appraised by David Choe, was featured in a Downtown Los Angeles exhibition, and was named among GOSS Magazine's top business women in America.

Words from Stevie

I will not make boring art. I will not make art that tries too hard. I will make art that makes people think and feel, art that makes them talk. I will release my inner weirdo. Go big, go bold, or go home.

People have money and they want their homes to feel alive with art. In a world dominated by AI and screens, my handmade work is the advantage. The texture, the human touch, the proof that a person stood in front of this canvas and made something.

Not because I need to make spiritual art, but because my work has soul. It feels like a human made it, and that creates connection. The faster tech accelerates, the more people will crave what feels real.

Galleries are closing, but new ones are opening. People want art with a story. They want selectivity, confidence, and boldness.

A strong point of view is being rewarded right now. The artists winning are the ones who aren't apologising for being different.

The work that survives is either unforgettable or deeply human. Mine will be both.

FAQ

Authenticity

The Wax Stamp, and How to Verify an Original

Every original by Stevie Alger carries marks that confirm it is one of one. Knowing what to look for protects the work and its value.

Each piece is signed on the front and fully inscribed on the back with its title, series, number, year, and the words Los Angeles. A numbered certificate of authenticity travels with every original, carrying a photograph of the work, its specifications, and the artist signature.

Art at the Afters produces no prints of the flagship originals. If a work is presented as an Art at the Afters original, it is a unique painting, never an edition.

The Work

The Meaning Behind the Series

The signature works are portraits of no one and everyone, the person you become when the room empties and the music keeps going.

Each canvas commits to a single colour world, one mood per canvas. The paint does what the night does. It loosens what we hold together all day. These are not portraits of people at parties. They are portraits of what parties do to people.

Painted in Los Angeles, the work is native to the rooms where taste and nightlife meet. That origin is the point of it, not a footnote to it.

Collecting

Provenance, and Why It Matters

Provenance is the recorded history of a work, who made it, when, and who has owned it. For a living artist it begins the moment the piece is finished.

Every Art at the Afters original is logged with its title, buyer, price, and date. Works painted at an event carry the night they were born in their record. Provenance becomes part of the work itself.

For a collector, clean provenance is what a serious gallery or auction house asks for first. It is quietly built from day one, so it is there the day it is needed.

For Collectors

A Short Collector Guide

New collectors are welcome. The simplest way to begin is to enquire about an available original, or to commission a piece scaled and coloured to your space.

Originals are priced as one of one works and the ladder only ever climbs. A piece bought today is bought at today's price. Payment is made in full before a commissioned work begins, and every original ships insured and tracked.

To start, reach out through the enquiry links on this site. Tell us the space, the feeling you want, and whether you are collecting an existing work or commissioning a new one.
